スイスからの熱い思い

9月18日、スイスよりお客様がみえられました。

スイス、イエメンツェールにお住まいのシドラーさんは、津波に破壊された釜石を支援するため、われわれと具体的に何ができるか、現場に行って話し合いをもってきました。

スイスの方々の思いを形にする。その方向は、「保育園の設置」に舵がとられました。

日頃の避難訓練がいきて、一人も犠牲者を出さなかった、鵜住居保育園の新しい敷地確保と、建設へと向かいます。19日理事長の小野寺さんから、実行委員会方式で建設するとのメッセージがあり、私も実行委員に名を連ねることになりました。

On September 18th, a visitor from Switzerland came to the Tono-Kamaishi area.

Mr. Sidler, who lives in Cham, Switzerland, came here to discuss how he can cooperate with us to support the Kamaishi area, a great part of which had been swept away by the tsunami.

To give form to his and all the Swiss volunteers' compassion, we had chosen to build a day-care center(Hoikuen) in Umosumai.

Having been well trained in emergency drills, no one at the Hoikuen perished during the tsunami. We will get a new site for the Unosumai Hoikuen and start building the facility. 

On the19th,  Mr. Onodera of the Hoikuen project committee phoned me to tell me that this project would be carried out by executive committees, not by the public organization.  I was also asked to become a member of the committee.

遠野よりオーストラリアへ

高校生と肉牛生産者派遣します。

オーストラリア肉牛事業団の駐日代表　メラニー・ブロックさんが遠野に来られました。

今回、震災にあわれた地域の生産者と、高校生をオーストラリアに招待し、オーストラリアの方々と交流をし、元気になってもらいたいということです。

私が窓口になりましたが、これは8月の国連大学で、講演したことがきっかけでのつながりです。


9月22日から1週間の日程です。
派遣される方々は、市内で80頭の肉牛を飼養する菊池さんと、遠野緑峰高3年の大里君です。
メラニーさんには感謝です。

A high school student and a beef producer will be sent to Australia.

Ms. Melany Block is in charge of Meat & Livestock Australia. The purpose of her visit was to introduce a program to invite a beef producer and a high school student from the disaster-affected area, let them have direct interaction with people in Australia, and bring them back in good spirits.

I worked as a collaborator for this program.  This all happened when I met with Ms. Block at United Nations University when I was giving a key note speech there.

This program will last one week starting September 22nd.

Those dispatched are Mr. Kikuchi, who takes care of 80 beef cows, and Mr. Ozato, third year high school student at Tono Ryokuho high school.

「泳げ釜石くん」プロジェクト ver11

9月11日　釜石甲子の仮設住宅で、コミュニケーションづくりのため、食のイベントを行いました。

世帯数は40戸。今回開催したところは、遅くに設置されたところです。住宅としては、遅くに建設されたところほど、満足度が高いようです。住宅間の歩道はアスファルト舗装され、街灯もあり、壁も厚く、隣の物音など聞こえないといいます。

午前11時半より、食べ物を提供しました。メニューは「ハンバーグ・焼き鳥丼」。70人の方々に味噌汁といちごプリンとともに、食べてもらいました。

食は笑顔とコミュニケーションをつくります。
人気はマッサージです。個別相談では、仮設住宅を出たくても、二重ローンをかかえることになる。仮設住宅に入ってから津波の体験が思いだされる。就職が決まったけれど、ローン返済に追いまくられる。仮設住宅の場所によって格差がある、、等が聞かれた。不満は大いに出しましょう。

自治組織が必要かどうかのアンケートをとりましたが、70%の住民は要望していました。

On September 11th,  the food delivery event which we do twice a month was held in Kasshi, Kamaishi.  We cooked and delivered food to the residents for the purpose of building community. During this activity we also had individual consultations to support each one's independent life.

There are 40 houses.  These temporary houses were built later than others.  The later the houses were built, the more satisfaction residents tend to have.  These residents are happier than those of other areas because roads between houses are paved with asphalt and there are street lamps.  The walls of these houses are thicker so residents aren't bothered with noises from next door.

At about 11:30 in the morning, we started delivering food, a hamburger and cooked chicken on rice bowl.  We prepared 70 dishes with miso soup and strawberry pudding for dessert. 

Food can make people smile and develops a friendly atmosphere.

The most popular item is massage. 

During individual consultation, there were comments such as "willing to leave temporary housing but that means we have to have overlapping debt", "started having flash backs of the tsunami after settling down in temporary housing", "even after starting a new job, it's not enough to pay the debt", and "the situation is quite different among areas of temporary housing".

Relieving frustrations can keep people healthy.

We included one particular question regarding whether a residents' association should be organized at the temporary residential area and we got 70% positive replies.
